The Xlink is able to connect to a large number of telephones. Many people find it very useful to connect the Xlink to all their house phones and use the existing telephone wiring in their house to do so.

Before doing this you have to ensure that no other source (usually the previous phone company) is controlling these telephones wires.

This might involve disconnecting the telephone company from your house wiring. This is usually done at the 'demarc' point.
