Caller ID

The XLink will always send any and all caller ID information that the cell phone provides over the Bluetooth link. If the cell phone provides any caller ID information of any sort then the XLink will pass it on to the house telephones.

Number Caller ID

Almost every cell phone provides the number caller ID. There is a very clear format for doing this in Bluetooth. Surprisingly there are several recent cell phones that do not provide the number, but most do.

Name Caller ID

Bluetooth does specify how to provide name caller ID. Nonetheless several cell phone models will send the name and the XLink will then pass it on to the house telephones. Many cell phones only provide the name if it is stored in the cell phone phonebook. And many others do not provide any name information at all.

The XLink attempts to download the phonebook from cell phones so that it can add the name to caller ID when possible. Many cell phone do not support the XLink downloading the phonebook so this feature is not always available.

Work Arounds

If your cell phone does not provide the name you can add the name and number to most home telephone's phonebook. Then the telephone should insert the name when that number calls.

Caller ID on Android

Android does not send Name Caller ID as it should. It only sends the number.
